The pviewpoints cross logo jpegower of the Holy Spirit is given to all those who put their trust in Jesus Christ. We worship the Triune God, which means three in one, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. At the crucifixion, Father, Son and Holy Spirit were all involved in the work of the cross "How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit, offered himself without blemish to God" (Hebrews 9 v 14).

Jesus lived his life through the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus offered up his life and his death through the Holy Spirit.    When Jesus was baptised, as He came out of the water, the Holy Spirit came down and rested on him like a dove while His Father said "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” Just as Jesus was immersed in the water, totally saturated in the water, so He was totally immersed in the Holy Spirit.

The word baptised means to be immersed. God wants you to be saturated in the Holy Spirit, He wants his power to be a continual stream flowing through you to meet not only your needs but the needs of those around you. Another name for the Holy Spirit is Comforter, which means he is here to comfort us, but he also strengthens us through the hard times we go tDove righthrough. You cannot live a Christian life without the help of the Holy Spirit.

How many of us can love our enemies, not gossip, not slander, in fact live a complete life of love? I don’t know anyone who can, and yet God wants us to be perfect as He is perfect, He does not lower His standards. The only way to live as God wants us to is to let God live his life in us, and that happens when we accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour and ask the Holy Spirit to come and live in us.

And do you know what, when you ask Him to come in, he does. Then you can be immersed in the Holy Spirit just as Jesus was. Jesus tells us not to store treasure here on earth, but to store treasure in heaven, where it can never rust or be eaten or be stolen. We are to have a "single eye", where God comes first in all things. Does He?
