The 'Bertie Bassett' Club

Magdalen Way Methodist Church has started a new service particularly for adults with learning difficulties. Our Open Evening was on the 24th May and we had our first time together on the first Thursday of June 7.00pm- 8.30pm.  During the evening we made our own musical instruments, had refreshments, and told the story of Jesus calming the storm using drama and sound effects to illustrate and then we said prayers and sang lively praise hymns

All who attended, including carers and church members enjoyed the evening and felt that God was doing a new thing

We ask for your prayerful support in developing this service

After our Open Evening, where John Loades told the story of Jesus calling the first disciples using a soft "Bertie Bassett" to illustrate that he called All Sorts of people, we decided this would be a good name for the new club and hope that in the coming months we will be able to explore spirituality that includes "all sorts" of ways that are understandable by all those who attend

We would like to invite any adult with learning difficulties, with or without a carer, to our next meeting

7.00pm Thursday 5th July and the first Thursday of the month thereafter in our church hall at Magdalen Way
