Happy first birthday to Great Yarmouth Seafarers Centre

happy birthday 1Friday evening 15/04/2016

Several volunteers and board members gathered together at the centre to celebrate its first birthday with a delicious fish and chip supper, supported by a wonderful birthday cake, lovingly baked by Pam, one of the volunteer team.  The cake (see picture right) was iced and decorated with the international maritime flags depicting the letters 'GYSC'

We were greeted into a room strewn with banners, streamers, and birthday cards and an ever-rising hubbub of joyful fellowship

After the meal Capt Steve, chairperson of the Board of Trustees presented Kathy, the Volunteer Manager, with a birthday card for the volunteers from the board of trustees with the wording “to the volunteers who have spent a year making a building into a centre for seafarers!”, followed by the singing of ‘happy birthday’

happy birthday 2Kathy said afterwards “We had a wonderful evening with lovely company, scrumptious cake, and fun conversation.  I am looking forward to our 2nd birthday party already!!  Welcome back to Ken and John R, lovely to have you back on board”
