Bradwell Church starts new dementia group

St Nicholas Church in Bradwell has started a Forget-Me-Nots group for people with dementia and their carers or families

Forget-Me-Nots runs on a monthly basis, offering support, friendship and fun for people with dementia and their families. The group has been set up by Lesley Baillie from St Nicholas Church in Bradwell, near Great Yarmouth and meets monthly at the church

Forget-Me-Nots offers those who are experiencing dementia and their carers a time of community, craft, singing and games, as well as refreshments.  The feedback so far from those who come along has been very positive, and the volunteers also testify to an atmosphere of warmth and welcome

Lesley explains that her experiences as a nurse and bringing up a daughter with additional needs inspired her to set up the group: “I wanted to set up the group because I don’t believe that anyone should be excluded…we have a fantastic team of volunteers and anyone who comes will be made very welcome.” She describes it as being “such a privilege to be able to do this group”

The group would love to welcome more people along to the group which meets on the first Monday of each month between 10.00 – 12.00 at St Nicholas Church Hall, Bradwell, NR31 8QQ. The group is completely free to attend and new people can turn up, or alternatively contact Lesley via the rector on 01493 663219. The next session will be on the February 5
