Industrial Chaplain prays for a seal in distress

Stephen Andrews, Chaplain Saturday 30/07/11

Here is a nice story to start your weekend

This morning, on a chaplaincy visit to GYB/Norse cleansing staff on Gorleston seafront I was approached by a street cleaner who was looking extremely anxious. The gentleman asked me if I could do anything to help rescue a stranded seal pup off the beach
seal in distress
I knew that the next person I was about to visit on the promenade had a truck and would be able to get to the other end of the seafront more quickly. On approaching Kevin (GYB/NORSE supervisor and driver) it soon became clear that he was incredibly knowledgeable about seals and, in fact, rescues them. We both went down on the beach to find the injured seal pup and started a rescue plan which began with moving the seal to a safe place. Kevin looked after the handsome mammal whilst I kept dogs away (which was quite a job in itself), generally helped where I could and offered a prayer for the injured creature. The seal is safely on his way to a sanctuary further down the coast

Well, animals, mammals, and all life forms are part of God's creation and joy, so of course I said a prayer!
