Treat for volunteers when invited aboard the Scylla

VOLUNTEERS 10 03-16On Saturday 5th March, volunteers from the Great Yarmouth Seafarers Centre were taken by Revd Peter Paine for a tour around the newest in the Seajacks fleet of jack-up vessels and the largest of its kind in the world the Seajacks Scylla

The group were given a tour of the vessel by Captain Donald and many questions were asked. We started on the bridge at nearly 50 metres wide, and deck by deck show the wonderful lay out of the vessel from cabins to conference rooms, to the engine room

VOLUNTEERS 5 03-16At the time of the visit the Scylla was getting ready for her first job and had around 40 crew; all of whom were willing, and happy, to answer the questions asked of them. A couple who are in the domestic team had a very long chat with one volunteer and in all the time they were both smiling and happy with their “new baby”

The volunteers all agreed she is a very nice BIG vessel, and once again has given them that extra knowledge for when seafarers come to the centre

We would all like to thank Captain Donald for his time with the volunteers and wish the vessel and her crew every blessing on her voyage

To join this happy band of volunteers, or to donate funds to help keep the Seafarers Centre running, please contact Rev Paine on 07788 111823
