Acle Churches Together prayer walk

acle prayer walk 2017
Members of Acle Churches Together held their traditional annual prayer walk around the village on Sunday 26th February 2017.  Tony Rothe reports

As members of the various churches in the East Norfolk village progressed around the area, they stopped at significant community locations to recognise and pray for the work done by staff within each building
The afternoon walk was led by Church of England Rector Rev Martin Greenland and Methodist Minister Rev Steve Cullis. The Roman Catholic Deacon Rev Peter Glanville, a retired BBC Radio producer who conceived the original idea of the walk about 14 years ago, was unable to attend due to other commitments as chaplain to the James Paget Hospital
A cross-section of denominations joined together to recite relevant prayers outside St Edmund’s Church, Barclays Bank, the Springfield building development, the fire station, St Edmund’s Primary School, Acle Recreation Centre, the medical centre, the library. They concluded the afternoon at Acle Methodist Church, where further prayers were recited, followed by refreshments arranged by Steve Cullis
John Kenny, a participant in the walk, said “This was an excellent example of ecumenism for other villages to follow”
