Music at the Minster

26th December 2019
Jane Freeman reports

CLEFThe last Wednesday lunchtime recital of this year was presented by young music pupils from the Priory School. This was the first time that they had performed in the Minster.  It was a delight to see the East End of the Minster full of youngsters and parents along with the usual followers of the Wednesday recitals
There was a good mixture of music played on a variety of instruments. Keyboard items, (Merrily we roll along) (Moonlight) keyboard and drum, (Carol of the drum) piano (Jodler) , Sign Language Club (See the golden star), saxophone (Cowboy's Swing) (Winter morning), Guitar Club (Jingle Bells), cornet (Duet) and the Key Stage 2 Choir (Angel Conga), accompaniment provided by their music tutor Martyn Marshall (pictured below)
The head teacher, Marie Grimmer, thanked all concerned and congratulated them on their performances, and also to their teachers, and said that the school would love to come to the Minster again
It was a lovely, happy way to start the journey to Christmas
Thank you Priory School

Thank You

Thank you all for supporting the 2019 series. We certainly have heard some wonderful music superbly played by the artistes, who give of their time and talents to raise funds for the Minster Organ Project. For us, the audience, a great way to spend a Wednesday lunch hour
