Worship Leader, All Saints Church, Belton
Sunday 21st June
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your many promises, too many to count, but every one of them written in Your Word of Truth and exemplified in the life of Jesus. Jesus honoured You with every action, in fact He did exactly what He saw You doing and did no other things
Lord Jesus, You said, "Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by Himself; He can do only what He sees the Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son does also". You honoured Your Father in Heaven perfectly in everything You did. Help me to do the same, by doing what You did and laying down my life. I know I will not do this perfectly, but I am acceptable to my Father in Heaven because of what You accomplished on the cross; forgiveness for all my sins and failures
Father, Your promises to the children of Israel are also Your promises to us today, Your children who are called by Your Name, followers of Christ. Thank You that You do not condemn us but that You love us; so much so that You hold us in Your arms and sing over us. "The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in His love He will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing"
Help me to hear Your song over me today, and to sing back to you You songs of worship, praise and adoration; songs of love shared between us. I know earthly fathers can let us down, and so often do, but You are not like that, Your love is eternal and unconditional. Your love is a constant in the universe. Thank You

The Father's Song performed by Matt Redman
Saturday 20th June
Heavenly Father, there are so many matters that can clutter my mind, both on a global scale and within my own very limited world, that I have to somehow switch them off to enable me to focus on You, on Your written Word, and on Jesus, Your Living Word
You warn us that there will be, and in fact are, false teachers
St John wrote, "Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world"
St Peter wrote, "There were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Sovereign Lord who bought them - bringing swift destruction on themselves"
King David decided to keep things simple "My heart is not proud, Lord, my eyes are not haughty; I do not concern myself with great matters or things too wonderful for me. But I have calmed and quieted myself, I am like a weaned child with its mother; like a weaned child I am content. Israel, put your hope in the Lord both now and forevermore"
Father, help me to do what King David did, to do what he told Israel to do. You tell us to test every spirit; is it from You?
Father, help me to test every song I sing in worship; does it honour and glorify You? Help me to test every word I share; is it in line with scripture, does it honour and glorify You? Help me to pray faithfully, seeking Your Word, Your Way, Your Spirit, Your will. Help me to trust You always. Thank You

My Heart Is Not Raised Up Too High
Until That Final Day performed by Keith Green
Friday 19th June
Heavenly Father, I guess I immediately put myself in a difficult position if I begin a sentence with the words, "I can't stand people who..."
The Psalmists did not seem to have a problem with declaring their hatred of certain people! "I hate double-minded people, but I love Your Law... I hate those who cling to worthless idols; as for me, I trust in the Lord... Do I not hate those who hate You, Lord, and abhor those who are in rebellion against You?" Some of these words are from King David, a man after Your own heart!
Jesus said, "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of the bones of the dead and everything unclean". He does not use the word 'hate' but they are very strong words
And Jesus also said in Revelation, regarding the Church at Ephesus, "You have this in your favour: You hate the practices of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate". It does seem that on every occasion it is what the people do that causes the hatred
Perhaps this is why we are told, "Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love". And why Jesus said, "Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you". Love the sinner, hate the sin?
"Search me, God, and know my heart... see if there is any offensive way in me..." Forgive, as I have been forgiven. Love covers a multitude of sins. Help me to be discerning... and loving

I Stand Amazed performed by Chris Tomlin
Thursday 18th June
Heavenly Father, what do I mean when I say I give my life to You? We were formed from the dust of the earth and then You breathed Life into us. From that moment on we were given freedom, freedom to choose. I am given freedom to choose whether or not I want You in my life
You do not override our will; force us to do what we do not want to do, make us do what You want. Yet You know far better than we do what is best for us. You know best what is best for me! So it is that I agree with Isaiah who said, "You, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, You are the potter; we are all the work of Your hand". I offer You myself, simply clay in the Potter's hand; Your hand
I need to accept what You decide to do. Isaiah knew this: You turn things upside down, as if the Potter were thought to be like the clay! Shall what is formed say to the One who formed it, "You did not make me?" Can the pot say to the Potter, "You know nothing!"?
Father, Your hand upon me may slowly change my shape, my thoughts, my emotions, my vision, my character. You are the Potter and I am the clay. You take what is a lump and transform it into something beautiful, and not only beautiful but fit for purpose, even holy. I may be squeezed, I may be turned upside down, Your hand may reach inside me, You may use a tool to scrape away what You do not require, and I may well be placed in a furnace! But in everything You are working for good, my good and the good of others. I place myself and this day into Your loving hands, the Best. Thank You

Change My Heart Oh God performed by the Maranatha! Singers
Wednesday 17th June
Heavenly Father, from the moment sin entered the world You started working on Your plan to redeem us. The whole of the Old Testament shows us Your willingness to forgive us, Your love for us, Your desire to lead us home
But it also shows our selfish desires, our love of sin and our decision to go our own way. Why did You let everything that happened in the Old Testament happen? Was it so that we couldn't say, "If only You had let us get on with it we would have sorted it out; got ourselves put right; found out for ourselves how to live." Was it so we could look back and see that we couldn't get it sorted out; couldn't put ourselves right; couldn't find out how to live
You allowed us so many chances to learn, so many opportunities to turn back to You, so many offers of forgiveness, but always we turned again and went our own way. You chose a people to show the world how to live, a people You made Your own, but they became proud of being Your people and failed to show us how to live; again and again they were conquered by sin
Eventually You came Yourself, Messiah, Jesus. You came to show us how to live; and what did we do? Crucified You! How could we do it? Kill the only perfect Son of Man, the Son of God? The amazing thing is, You knew we would do it! You knew because You planned the whole thing; but why? Is it so that once and for all, You could show Your willingness to forgive us, Your love for us, Your desire to lead us home? You paid for my sin! Let me not waste Jesus' sacrifice. Thank You

Our Father Everlasting (The Creed) performed by Hillsong Worship Band
Tuesday 16th June
Heavenly Father, help me to pray in the Way You want me to. Help me to use language that You will understand, the same kind of language You use, the same kind of language Jesus used
We are told, "The Lord your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God". And, therefore, since we are receiving a Kingdom that cannot be shaken, we must be thankful, and so worship You acceptably with reverence and awe, for our "God is a consuming fire". May my prayers then be full of fire, with reverence and awe, but fiery, for You are a consuming fire
We are also told, "Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love". Therefore my prayers must be permeated with love, soaked in love, and this must be the love you have placed in my heart, as my love can be tainted, but Your love is pure; may I pray with the new heart You have promised, not a hard heart, but a heart of flesh
And may my prayer not be halfhearted, but wholehearted! "You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all of your heart". Help me to pray and praise as King David did, "I will praise You, Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify Your Name forever"
Lord, You are "gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love". Help me to pray with grace and compassion, not in anger but richly in love. You tell me to clothe myself with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. May my prayer language be clothed in the same Way. The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, His mercies never come to an end. Thank You

Monday 15th June
Heavenly Father, what is the point of praying, its purpose? What do I hope for? And, in particular, what is the purpose of sharing a prayer?
First and foremost this must be a conversation between You and me, and sometimes I write what I think I hear You saying. If this is just me rambling on, and this is simply a text message then it is redundant, powerless, and produces no good at all
Often You speak through Your written Word, established Truth that I can rely on. Sometimes I think I hear Your voice and I need to check that what I hear is consistent with what Jesus said and what You have said through Psalms and prophetic words
Am I hoping to change the world? I don't think so, but I do hope You are changing me. And I also hope You are helping me to understand the world better, both the seen and the unseen world. And Jesus, I also hope to get to know You better, to draw close and learn from You; to hear what is on Your heart, to feel what You feel and know what You want me to do
So, what do I hope to achieve in sharing a prayer? I hope to encourage others, that others will continue praying, continue listening for Your voice, reading Your Word, learning more of Your Way of Life. Perhaps that is it? Prayer becomes a Way of Life! Prayer is a constant and continual reminder of Your love for us, a constant and continual guide to us; prayer links us to You through Your Spirit alive in us. Prayer changes things, changes me. We meet You in prayer. Our relationship is growing through prayer. Thank You
