Yarmouth church celebrates creation with photos
Kingsgate Community Church is currently hosting a public exhibition of photos which church members have taken in response to God’s creation
The collection of photographs came about as a result of the church’s request for ideas for discipleship groups. Jo Morrison, a member of Kingsgate Community Church in Great Yarmouth, was inspired by the thought of meditating on God’s creation, and from that the concept of a photography group emerged
The 8 members who formed the group visited various places together such as Waxham, Winterton, Lound Lakes, Burgh Castle, Bluebell Woods, Gorleston beach and the Britannia Monument at all times of day, from sunrise to sunset. They shared their photographs and reflections via WhatsApp
Jo reflects: “It didn't matter if you had a great big paparazzi lens or a disposable camera; it wasn't about the equipment, it was about looking at what God had put out there. Even if things were built by man, God had given him the knowledge of how to do that…Each of us saw the things God had built from a different perspective”
The group has shared some of its pieces in a display of 46 photos in the entrance hall to the King’s Centre, 30 Queen Anne's Road, Great Yarmouth NR31 0LE, the home of Kingsgate Community Church. Many of the photos are accompanied by reflections or Bible verses chosen by the photographers
The display will be up until Thursday March 7. Anyone is welcome to go and view the photos, and can also visit the café at the centre Monday to Friday 9.00am – 2.30pm
