Share-a-Prayer for Brexit vote 15/01/2019

Derek Mill

Tuesday 15th January

Heavenly Father, I do not pretend to know very much at all about politics, Parliament or Brexit, but I feel that I ought to pray
John F. Kennedy said something like "Think not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country".  Jesus did not come into the world to do what was best for Himself as an individual, nor what was best for Israel, but what was best for the whole world; it was a great sacrifice
May our politicians today, tonight, make a decision which is not best for themselves as individuals, nor what is best for their party, not even what is best for this country, but what is best for the whole world; it may need to be a great sacrifice

Our Parliament is often spoken of as "The Mother of Parliaments".  May our Parliament act like a mother and make a decision which is good and right, whatever is best, whatever that may be. Guide our ministers, our Government and the Opposition so that the right decision is made
May this nation be a blessing to the world, a light to the nations, just as Jesus is a blessing, the Light of the World. If a miracle is needed so be it. Thank You Father

Heavenly Father, I revisit this prayer to find that in my heart nothing has changed. May Your will be done in everything; not just today, but always. May Your Word bless us today: "The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house," says the Lord Almighty. "And in this place I will grant peace," declares the Lord Almighty. (Haggai 2:9)
