Sunday 28th March
Heavenly Father, I saw an advert on TV yesterday which showed lots of flowers growing. It turned out it was an advert for a D.I.Y. store!
However, I liked the imagery, and the words, "Dear winter, you can freeze our fingers and steal our sunshine away, you can darken our days and it may seem like the frost will never thaw, but you won't turn our hearts to ice... We didn't lose hope, we planted it”
Lord Jesus, this had such a resonance for me with Your story. You are our hope, and You were planted in the ground. Dead and buried, but You had said, "Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds” A dead seed planted, You rose up to produce many seeds! And I am one of them!
Help me to grow in faith, grow in love, grow in Christ and die to self so that I can also plant seeds that can grow in people's hearts and minds. You said "Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it"
Thank You for being planted in the ground and thank You for rising up again, from darkness to light. You said, "I AM the True Vine, and my Father is the Gardener... I AM the Vine, you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing" . You are the Vine, risen from the ground
Father, water every seed planted, by Your Spirit, so it grows to new life

Saturday 27th March
Heavenly Father, when John the Baptist saw his cousin, Jesus, coming toward him he made this bold proclamation, "Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!"
Thank You that it is by grace we are saved, through faith, and that this is not from ourselves, it is a gift from You, not by anything we do, our works, so we cannot boast. We are saved for eternity, I am saved, because of Your sacrifice, the blood of the Lamb of God shed for us, shed for me, which takes away the sin of the world!
Lord, if You kept a record of our sins, who could stand before You? Thanks to Your grace we are washed clean by the blood of the Lamb. You love us, Your created beings, and because You love us You are patient and kind, You are not easily angered and You keep no record of wrongs
Our hope is in You, we can always trust You. You will never leave us nor forsake us and You will see us home to eternity. When I stand in Glory I will see Your face! I will live there with You forever. You tell us You will bring us home and that we will be Your people and You will be our God
Thank You that nothing and no one can take this away from us! Nothing in all creation can separate us from Your love, because Jesus has bought us by paying the price for all sin. When Satan tempts me to despair, and tells me of the sin within, upward I look and see Jesus there, who made an end to all my sin
Jesus said, on the cross, "It is finished". A legal and binding contract, "It is paid in full!" Thank You, Lamb of God

Friday 26th March
Heavenly Father, "Who is a God like You, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of His inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy. You will again have compassion on us; You will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea". This promise You made to Your people through the prophet Micah in the Old Testament, now applies to us! Thank You!
It echoes a Psalm of King David I prayed about yesterday:
"As far as the east is from the west, so far have You removed our transgressions from us"
Lord Jesus, I can picture coming to You with my head bowed low, kneeling before You and giving You a black bin bag, containing all my sin; it is very heavy! You take it willingly and gladly. You hurl it so it flies as far as the east is from the west where it lands in the deepest ocean and sinks to the bottom, never to be seen again. I feel the release and look up to see You there, such love in Your eyes
But then I look and see before me a black bin bag. I am confused and go to pick it up, but Your hand stops me. You point and show me this is not my bag of sin but a bag of lies, falsehoods, and in the background, trying to hide I see the enemy, Satan, he has put it there; he is trying to con me into taking on a load I do not need to bear because You have taken my sin from me and I am free, forgiven
Help me to see the bag of lies and to leave it so it weighs on the accuser, the father of lies, Satan. Thank You

Thursday 25th March
Heavenly Father, thank You for peace. Thank You for the peace that we cannot understand, the peace You give when we come to You in any situation
St Paul tells us, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus"
Thank You for Your peace, the peace of God
A couple of sentences later Paul writes, "Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me - put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you"
It is an amazing Truth that You, the God of peace, will be with us when we focus on things that excellent or praiseworthy. So, we can have the peace of God and the God of peace with us
Lord Jesus, when You met with the disciples You said, "Peace be with you", having previously told them, "Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid"
We can have Your peace because as far as the east is from the west, so far have You removed our sins from us. I give You all my sin and You take it. Only the enemy tries to bring it back but You reign. Peace

Wednesday 24th March
Lord Jesus, I was praying yesterday about how Your coming to earth and living among us was a blessing in disguise. I suppose the biggest blessing in disguise was Your death, on the cross; what a blessing in disguise that was!
Throughout Your life on earth Truth of who were was disguised, but revealed to people at certain times. It was revealed to shepherds and wise men very early in Your life. The Truth was revealed to Simon Peter when You asked the disciples who they thought You were: "You are the Messiah, the Son of the Living God!" he said. And You replied, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in Heaven"
The Bible tells us that as You breathed Your last breath, the curtain in the temple was torn in two from top to bottom, and when the centurion, who stood there, at the foot of the cross, in front of You, saw how You died, he said, "Surely, this man was the Son of God!"
You breathed forgiveness over us, paid the price for sin and bought us Salvation on the cross. What a blessing in disguise! You revealed who You were after Your resurrection to the disciples in the upper room, and to Thomas when You said to him, "Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe". Thomas said, "My Lord and my God!" You replied, "Because you have seen me you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed". That's me! Blessed!

Tuesday 23rd March
Heavenly Father, so often, Your blessings come in disguise! Who would have thought that You, the God and Creator of the universe would have come to this little planet, and be born to live among us as a man. You called Yourself the Son of Man and it soon became apparent that You were also the Son of God
From that first miracle, at the wedding at Cana in Galilee, it was clear that the blessings You brought were in disguise. People asked, "Isn't this the carpenter's Son? Isn't His mother's name Mary, and aren't His brothers James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas?" No one believed You were anything special
When Nathaniel was invited to meet You, his response was, "Nazareth! Can anything good come from Nazareth?" Philip said, "Come and see". He must have seen something in You because he became Your disciple
Thank You for coming into this world. Even today, so often Your blessings are in disguise; in fact You encourage this! "When you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret"
We may even be surprised at who we have blessed! "Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing so some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it". And You say when we do things for the hungry, thirsty, or strangers, we do it for You
May we be blessings in disguise today, and in doing so be a blessing to You

Monday 22nd March
Heavenly Father, the biggest killer in the world is heart disease. That is the physical heart that pumps blood around the body. The heart that You look upon is a different heart, the heart You look upon is a metaphor for our inner life
You care about our physical wellbeing, but You also care about our spiritual and mental wellbeing. The heart is the centre and the source of whole inner life - thinking, feeling and willing. Jeremiah warned us, "The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?" And Jesus told us, "Out of the heart come evil thoughts - murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander". This heart disease is the real killer! This heart disease can only be cured by You
Thank You that we can come to You and bring our hearts before You
King David asked, "Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from Your presence or take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your Salvation and grant me a willing spirit to sustain me". Thank You that You can do this!
You told Ezekiel, "I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh". A heart transplant! When a physical heart is damaged sometimes the only solution is a heart transplant. When our spiritual heart is damaged, and it is, Your solution is also a heart transplant through Jesus, the forgiveness of our sins
May many heart transplants take place today
