Do we look in the wrong places for Him?

As the deer pants for the water so my soul longs after You. Dear LORD. I don't want to be controlled by an opinion of anyone about who God is and who God isn't. I want God to show me in HIs word, who He is. Yes, I read books, but God wants us to love Him. To enquire of Him who He is to us. Many of us miss God. Miss who He is. We look in the wrong places for Him
A lot of this behaviour stems from fear. We're a mishmash of what the world has made us. God is not mean. Our natural Father's, men who have had a position of authority in our lives as we are developing, influence our image of God. If our own Father's or men in Church presented God to you as angry and judgmental, striking fear into you, then God will appear harsh to you. If your biological father was absent, God will be distant. If your father was loving, but liberal, again, you will view God in a distorted way. God can fix all of this. God can fix anything. He longs to be asked to reveal Himself
We have to be willing to permit Him to be Himself. If we've been damaged by authority it's difficult to be free and clean, relaxed with anyone. It's hard to open up and trust. God and release us from the pain of our past. He can fill us with a new, fresh peace; replacing the distrust and negativity
Jesus, help us. Free us from the dogma of tradition; release us from the lies of the enemy; the thief that comes to steal, kill and suffocate our destiny; break of control. Reveal Yourself, in Jesus’ Name, in glorious clarity. Amen
