Dove rightI love autumn, it’s one of the seasons where you can actually see the changes around us, the definite change in the weather and the temperature, the changing colours of the leaves, the berries and fruits ripe to pick, and, of course, the tractors reaping the harvest of grain and moving it to the storage barns

In the Gospel of Mathew Jesus talks about the harvest being ripe and ready to be gathered in but the labourers being few, of course Jesus was talking about people and sharing the good news of the gospel with them, we have this great gift of everlasting life and yet seem reluctant to share it, we get so busy  it seems  with other things that we forget or don’t have the time to do it, or perhaps are reluctant to share it in case we are rejected or mocked. But sharing the gospel is so easy, again Jesus talks about love in John’s Gospel saying “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you”

dove leftThis one command, the greatest of all, is so important and is easy to do if we don’t focus on ourselves, but shift that focus onto others. With the recently difficult times that we have all been going through with Covid-19 it’s been brilliant seeing the community coming together in love and compassion

Such a community envisaged by God and described by Jesus many times in scripture, a vision that we need to carry on with, because we can, and not because we need to, to love one another selflessly and share with one another

The greatest gift we can share as Christians is that of eternal life offered by Jesus, for those who come to know Him personally. I would encourage all to share this with others, don’t be to busy or scared. It tells us in Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me”

I know from my recent experiences that this is so true, and I rely on Him with each blessing of a new day. With each day comes the challenge of “what do you want me to do today Lord”

At Cornerstone Ministries I encourage everyone to ask that question, it shifts the focus from us to others and it always bears fruit, and as that fruit ripens and is harvested the cycle starts all over again
