Opening THE Book with Rev John K-S May 2021

REV JOHN K-S 05-2021Rev John Kinchin-Smith
Assistant Minister, St Andrew’s Church, Gorleston

Following on from last month, here are some more helpful and trustworthy verses from the Bible for those times when we need some words of encouragement and helpful advice, especially when we're stressed or anxious  (the numbers indicate the chapter: followed by the verse)

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6-7)

Therefore, my beloved brothers, be firm, steadfast, always fully devoted to the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labour is not in vain (1 Corinthians 15:58)

Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid” (John 14:27)

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. (Philippians 4:13)
Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God (Hebrews 13:16)

Do everything without grumbling or questioning, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God (Philippians 2:14)

Jesus said, “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you” (Luke 6:38)

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you (James 1:5)

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight (Proverbs 3:5-6)

Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. (Philippians 1:6)

“For I know the plans I have for you” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11)

Jesus said to his disciples, “I am with you always, even to the very end of the age” (Matthew 28:20)
