Christian peace-building introduction available
Peace Catalyst and Norwich Christian Meditation Centre are working together to provide an introduction for Christians who are interested in peace-building
The course will approach the question of whether the gospel provides a framework to address the real challenges of our world, and will expand understanding of themes such as God’s reign, kingdom, justice, conflict transformation, and reconciliation
The sessions will take place on Saturdays from January 11 to February 15 between 2.00pm - 4.00pm at St Augustine’s Church Hall, Norwich, NR3 1DS. There is no charge, but places are limited
The course is being run by Phil Gazley of Peace Catalyst. Phil describes Peace Catalyst as “bringing people together across lines of difference through understanding, connecting, and collaborating.” In Norwich he explains that “our priorities are the development of community safety, bringing people together in terms of interfaith and also in wider communities through events, listening groups, courses and sometimes through conflict resolution and mediation. We also do debrief work and spiritual support for fellow workers and people serving vulnerable communities.” Phil wil be running the course alongside June Webb who is part of the Norwich Christian Meditation Centre and St Augustine’s Church
The plan for the sessions is as follows:
-
Meet & Greet - Hear the personal stories of other Christians in our community and around the world
-
God’s Vision & Mission - Shalom & Peacebuilding
-
The Church’s Peacebuilding Vocation & Call
-
Introduction to Conflict Transformation
-
Discipleship: Christian Formation for Peacebuilding
-
Peacebuilding Postures & Skills
Participants can expect a highly interactive experience with a lot of discussion along with the content. It is requested that participants intend to be present for the majority of the sessions in order to facilitate their own learning and the learning of the class
