I don’t know many people who have not been concerned about the recent news reports. We seem to live i n times of great anxiety and distress. From a political, economical and social point of view, nothing seems to be certain anymore. Yet according to the Apostle Paul we should rejoice in the Lord always, whatever the circumstances. Where did the one who wrote the letter to the Philippians from his prison cell get his confidence from? Why should we always rejoice? Is it perhaps because we know that God is in control of the bigger picture? Because He is the Creator of Heaven and Earth and is deeply concerned about everything that is going on? Or maybe is it because the future for the faithful followers of Jesus is bright? We are called in the Bible the citizens of heaven - we lead our life here on Earth as foreigners, looking forward to going back home.
Someone may want to ask, how am I so certain that these promises are not just feeble? How do I know God even exists? The answer is simple –not only on the basis of God’s Word, but also the wonders He has made in my own life. He promised “I will never leave you nor forsake you” and has kept His word.
Seven years ago, when I was still living in my home country, Poland, I would have never imagined that my life would have turned out this way. All the events (some of which were very painful) that led to my arrival in the UK were used by God to my advantage and now, from the perspective of time, I can clearly see His leading. In the times of belonging to Oasis, a charismatic youth movement, I used to sing “Lord never leaves those, who seek Him”. Let’s not get discouraged, whatever the circumstances. Keep your eyes fixed on Him who is waiting for us to discover His love and forgiveness, and let’s respond with a desire to love and obey Him

Nie znam wielu ludzi, ktorzy nie byliby zan
iepokojeni ostatnimi doniesieniami prasowymi.
epokoju I rozpaczy. Z politycznego, ekonomicznego I socjologicznego punktu widzenia, nic nie wydaje sie juz pewne. Jednakze wedlug Apostola Pawla powinnismy sie zawsze radowac w Panu, jakiekolwiek napotykaja nas okolicznosci. Skad ten, ktory napisal List do Filipian z celi wieziennej bral taka ufnosc?
Z perspectywy czasu moge wyraznie dostrzec Jego prowadzenie. Pamietam kiedy za czasow nalezenia do Oazy, charyzmatycznego ruchu mlodziezowego, spiewalam “Bog nie opuszcza nigdy tych, ktorzy Go szukaja”. Nie tracmy odwagi, jakiekolwiek spotkaja nas okolicznosci. Nie tracmy z oczu Tego, ktory czeka abysmy odkryli Jego milosc I przebaczenie I odpowiedzimy pragnieniem kochania I nasladowania Go.

Dear sister, your words are so true-we do serve a God that is love and forgiving. What encouragement it is to know that He is always by our side holding us in the palms of His hands. Thank you Lord for each and every one of us. Regards to michael. We are all praying for you here in SA. Love, jen
