Let the Son shine…

dove left
I have been blessed over the Easter holidays to see clear skies and bright sunshine, not least for the fact it meant my four year old could burn off her energy at the park or in the garden instead of leaving a trail of destruction around the lounge from riding her pretend horse

The sunshine and lighter mornings have a psychological affect on humans – a fact well researched. S.A.D. (Seasonal Affective Disorder) is over and we turn into as happier nation. I, for one, feel more awake in the mornings and can stay alert longer in the day. Unfortunately, it also has the same effect on the children, but I am more alert to cope with them!

More hours of daylight mean more productive and more satisfying days. Work seems less tedious. Time off seems more relaxing. Bring on the sunshine! The Son of God also has this effect. When the light of God’s Son shines into our lives we are more satisfied and content. Life has meaning and purpose. Daily life is less tedious and more exciting. Resting in his presence is the ultimate relaxation therapy

Of course, with our British climate, we expect rain, but our land needs rain to flourish. And so, even with Jesus in our lives we can expect showers, or even downpours – times when things dampen our happiness or block out the sun – but these times are meant for our development and growth

As the spring gets well underway and summer approaches we hope for sunshine. My hope is that more and more people will let the Son (Jesus) shine through their lives

Jesus said “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." (John 8 v 12)
“Your sun will never set again, and your moon will wane no more; the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your days of sorrow will end.” (Isaiah 60 v 20)
