T he older I get the more grateful I am to God. I appreciate more and more His goodness to me, and His great and precious promises, which among other things promise me eternal life with Him in heaven.
A life without tears, pain or suffering, and the added bonus that there is nothing but pleasure in His kingdom, things to enjoy for ever, and reunion with people I have known and loved here on earth. One of them will be my dearly loved mother in law, Winnie. But not only am I grateful for His future promises, I am so thankful He is on my side right now here on earth. “If God is for me, who can be against me”, He tells me in His word, the Bible.
I can testify that God has never let me down. I have let Him down, frequently, but He has been nothing but good to me ever since I handed my life over to Him when I accepted His son, Jesus, as my Lord and Saviour. I am so grateful that the death of Jesus on the cross enables God to forgive me and accept me as his daughter. His blood covers me constantly, for without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sin, and Jesus shed His blood for me when He hung on the cross, and through his blood I am forgiven and can walk with God through this life and into the next. . The hymn by Cecil Alexander says it all “There was no other good enough to pay the price of sin, He only could unlock the gate of heaven, and let us in.
Dearly, dearly has he loved and we must love Him too, and trust in His redeeming blood, and try His works to do”.” What a God, what a Saviour!
