DEAR GOD...............
I read a lovely book recently by Josephine Falla entitled Dear God
It tells the story of William Penfold who is angry with everything in his life but most of all he is furious with God
So William decides to email God to tell him exactly what he thinks and needs – and God replies
Email is defined by Wikipedia as Electronic mail, most commonly referred to as email or e-mail since ca. 1993, is a method of exchanging digital messages from an author to one or more recipients. Modern email operates across the Internet or other computer networks. (©Wikipedia)
As William’s story unfolds it set me to thinking what if we could email God - what would we say?
Would we fill him in on the daily minutiae of our lives, the gossip from the office, the family news etc?
Would we complain about our health, not winning the lottery, the neighbours and such like?
Would we remember to thank him for all that we have, all that we have had and all that we know has been promised to us?
Would we rejoice and praise the Lord, worshipping and honouring his holy name? Thought provoking isn’t it?
But surely we have an even better way of communicating with the Lord, which is prayer
Interesting to note that the definition of a prayer is far more detailed than that of an email!
Our prayerful life encompasses all the things that the email could and yet so many, many more. We don’t have to sit down at a computer or select an app on our mobiles, open up a programme, enter passwords, connect and then start to type in our vital message
Prayer can, and does, happen any time, any place, or anywhere. Speaking from my own personal experience, I speak to the Lord so many times a day no matter where I am or what I am doing
