Green Pastures Christian Fellowship
On 24th May (Pentecost), I was privileged to take part in a walk by various Christian denominations from both sides of the river in Great Yarmouth and Gorleston. This was a witness of Christian unity to mark the celebration of the birth of the Church. The time when the words of Jesus in the book of Acts were fulfilled by the coming of the Holy Spirit in power upon His people, whom He had told to “wait for the Promise of the Father” and “you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you”
Twenty seven years ago I asked God to forgive my sins and for Jesus to be my Saviour and Lord, it was, however, six months later on 11/12/1988 that I also received His power when I was filled with the Holy Spirit. Until then I had been a foul mouthed, quick tempered builder, although I had become a Christian in June there was a barrier in the way that stopped me receiving all the fullness of God’s promise. I had previously accepted an invitation to become a Freemason, which I thought was a good thing to do and I was proud to join, as they do lots of good deeds and charitable work. God showed me very clearly that one cannot be a Christian and a Freemason. I repented and renounced freemasonry and was immediately set free and filled with the Holy Spirit, just as in Acts 2:4. The next morning, at work on the building site, I discovered I could no longer swear. God had set me free and I have not sworn since, it was not something I decided to do but a sovereign act of God to show His power
I realise that any freemasons reading this may be upset by my words but I can only speak from my experience. I learned “the light of a master mason’s lodge is darkness visible”, I physically saw that darkness and have been set free from it. Jesus said He is the only way to God, good works won’t get anyone into heaven
Salvation and the power of God are freely available to all who will ask Him, John 1:12 says: “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name”. Will you ask Him today?
