It doesn’t matter where you go or what you do, you can’t escape hearing or reading about the recession. It’s in the papers and on the TV, radio, and the internet. But worse than that, it’s affecting our community and our country. Its influence reverberates around the world. It’s too late to put our head under the covers and pretend that nothing is happening, no matter how preferable that might be, the storm is upon us
Jesus told a story of a storm, and of two men who built their own houses. Both built fine houses, used the same materials, took the same care with construction, but the difference was the foundations
One man built his house on rock and the other built his house on sand. All was well until the storm came. The rain came down, the streams rose and the winds blew and beat upon the houses. The house built upon the rock stood firm but the house built on sand fell with a great crash
Jesus told this story to the people who said they were his followers who listened to what he said but didn’t put it into practice. He said they were building on sand
Maybe we all need to consider what our lives are built upon
