To Brexit or Not to Brexit; That Is the Question
I recently read a caption that caught my eye. It went something like this: ‘comments are free but facts are truth’. When it comes to hard decisions, we need to know the facts in order to make a radical decision. On June 23 the British nation will go to the poles to decide whether to remain in Europe or exit the EU. We hear lots of comments from the politicians, some even loaded with scare tactics, but as a BBC reporter remarked recently, people are wanting hard facts to enable them to decide rather than the various arguments that are given
To Brexit or not to Brexit that is the question. We shall need to make our own decision on this very important question. Britain has been a member of the European Union for over 40 years. During that period the EU has grown and undergone radical changes that have held greater control at the cost of our independence. It claims to be a union of European nations but its history has demonstrated much to the contrary. As a retired but still active clergyman I have also had my eye focused on an ancient oracle that foretold something important about Europe
 It was revealed to the prophet Daniel as far back as the late 7th century BC that successive kingdoms would follow ancient Babylon. History confirms the names of those kingdoms: Medo-Presia, Greece, and Rome. The prediction then explained that the empire of Rome would be fragmented into numerous divisions. Those divisions formed the basis for the European nations that emerged. It is interesting to note that those previous kingdoms were denoted by the metals of gold, silver, bronze an iron (in that order); It was Edward Gibbon who coined the phrase, “the iron monarchy of Rome”. A mixture of iron and clay represents the breaking up of the Roman Empire into its various divisions. It precisely states: “And just as you saw the iron mixed with baked clay, so the people will be a mixture and will not remain united, any more than iron mixes with clay” – Daniel 2:43 (NIV). No doubt the skeptic will dismiss this divine prediction, and his comments are free, but the historical record bears out the facts and facts are truth!
It will be very interesting to witness the outcome of the referendum in June. It has already been voiced that some other nations may also want to exit. Whatever happens, a united Europe still remains a long way off. I for one firmly believe that the Good old Book got it right.
