At the beginning of the 21st century we Christians are facing unprecedented ethical challenges. I expect Christians to accept the Bible as their sole and absolute authority, and therefore to be clear in their response to these challenges
Questions are being asked in our society; often the answers being arrived at are being influenced by liberals who have no regard for God’s word. These people use the media, and humanistic argument to erode the existing moral position held by many which was based on God’s law. Our government has thereby implemented laws that are out of order according to God’s word. Proverbs 14:34 Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people
So called human rights are being promoted, so that everything goes, now many do that which seems right in our own eyes. Our society is already paying the price for this attitude
This situation arises when people start to believe “God is dead” Dostoevsky wrote “If God does not exist then everything is permitted”. Again the saying of Edmund Burke “The only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing”. If God is dead then there are no moral constraints, man is therefore the creator of his own values
The world view on naturalistic evolution cannot provide an answer to basic questions. For instance “from where/what do we get our moral conscience, on what foundation are our morals based”?
A secular state which reduces its morals to the private conscience is going down the road of totalitarianism and intolerance, such as we witnessed in Nazism, Communism, and other evil regimes’
In this country the door is already closing on a Christian’s right to speak out on the many evils that are now resident in our society, because of “political correctness”. This has endeavoured to take away our rights and liberty in our so called democratic society. Christians are called not to stand on the side-lines, tutting and shaking their heads in dismay, but to be salt and light in our society. The Bible is our instruction book on all matters
2Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
We cannot remain silent. It is our duty to speak out, for we will have to give an account before God
