Are you concerned about the future, especially with what is happening around the world today? As I write this article, Parliament has voted to start the Brexit process, a cause for celebration for some but uncertainty and even anguish for others. Donald Trump's elevation to President of the USA has, perhaps, caused even more rejoicing for some but much anger and fear for others. People, including Christians, around the world are divided on both these issues. Where will it all lead? What will be outcome?

dove leftThere is so much animosity between those of differing views these days. People are being hurt on b sides of these debates. For my part, I refuse to get involved in arguments and squabbles because, with much uncertainty at the moment, none of us knows what the ultimate result will be. The apostle Paul writes “If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone”

Some years ago, having not been a Christian for that long, I was somewhat confused about my future; what I was planning didn't work out as I had thought. It was at that time that a wise Christian leader said to me “We don't know what the future holds, but we know Who holds the future”

Dove rightThat was nearly forty years ago but I took that on board and have endeavoured to live that way ever since, that is, trusting God for every step of my life. I must confess that I, and us as a family, have had some very difficult and painful times along the way. But I can confidently say that we have felt the presence of God leading us and strengthening us through those times

Jesus once said “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, trust also in me.” God also says “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight”

I am not overly concerned about the future as I have put my trust in Jesus, and that brings me peace of mind. He wants to do the same for anyone who has worries about their future, whether it is personal or global

Jesus also said “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Give your life to Jesus today and you too can have peace in your life whatever comes your way
