My husband and I have recently made a decision to move home. We have been considering this for couple of years; however it was as though the door of opportunity was closed. In the recent months we started praying again, asking that the Lord would help us move to an area where we could closer follow His plan for our lives. The Lord opened the doors, and events that followed were rather rapid. We clearly saw God’s leading in the way we found our future home and in the speed in which our current home was sold, less than a week of being on the market
In the process of home searching I reflected on the fact that the choice of where we live really reveal what is important to us - do we move to a big city, to be closer to shops and restaurants? Or maybe move closer to where our family lives? Maybe to a country for opportunities to be closer to nature? A brand new, immaculate house? Or a house that is more of a project?
 Another thing that we can learn about ourselves from moving home is how attached do we get to places. It’s natural to be sentimental about leaving home in which we spent considerable number of years. So many memories to treasure, all the milestones that our son made from the time he was born, and lovely neighbours. Some people naturally look to the future, where others tend to live in the past, while yet others try to focus on the present moment
All these reflections turned my thoughts toward what apostle Paul wrote:
“But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for Him to return as our Saviour”
Philippians 3:20, NLT
And Jesus’ words
“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. (...) When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. And you know the way to where I am going”
John 14:1-4
In the focus on the here and now, it’s good to remember that this Earth is not our final destination. We are passing through as pilgrims on a journey to our heavenly home. This thought puts all our decisions into perspective
