Knock Knock

Most, if not all, people know or have heard of the ‘knock knock’ jokes. Usually they are short and sweet, intended to bring a quick smile to your face!  In The Holy Bible, there is a verse that tells us about Jesus knocking.  Unlike the ‘knock knock’ jokes that brings a quick smile when you listen to it, the verse about Jesus ‘knocking’ brings an eternity of Joy and Salvation to all who listen to it and take the necessary actions accordingly

Words of Jesus: “Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends”  (Revelation 3:20 NLT)

dove leftHow wonderful it is to know that Jesus, the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, wants to be friends with us and to share a meal with us too – there is truly something special about sharing a meal together.  During the recent festive season, families and friends have gathered together and shared meals.  These are very memorable moments and are treasured deep within our hearts

Most people view this verse, ‘Jesus standing at the door knocking’, with the understanding that Jesus is knocking at the door of our hearts, and if we were to open our hearts for Jesus to enter, then He would come into us and change us into Christlike people!  However, there is a different way of viewing this verse, a deeper way, and a more self-challenging way!

Picture your friend comes to visit you. He stands outside your house and knocks at the front door. You are inside the house and hear him knocking. The only thing or barrier that prevents you and your friend from seeing and being with each other is ‘the door’. The door then, effectively becomes the object that separates you both

Dove rightWhen Jesus ‘Knocks’ at your door, could He be ‘knocking’ at the ‘thing’ in your life that is separating you and Him from have a close and an unobstructed relationship!  Could Jesus be knocking right now at your door, the door of dirty language/thought habit or love for money habit. Could there be something else in your life that you are putting first rather than putting your Saviour first.  Could you be spending more time on social media than in prayer and devotion?

Dear friends, The Second Coming of Jesus is eminent and He is ‘knocking’ at your door!  Put aside the things that separate you from your Saviour, set your heart on being faithful and ask Jesus to help you overcome the obstacles in your life that cause a hindrance in a close loving relationship with Him
