Lowestoft Living Word to focus on Hosea
Mark Meynell is this year's speaker at the annual conference, and will take as his topic the book of Hosea, under the title of God’s Faithfulness to a Faithless People
The Lowestoft Living Word conference this year takes place from October 17-19, beginning each evening at 7.30pm at Christ Church on Whapload Road in Lowestoft
The main Bible talks will be given by Mark Meynell who is Director (Europe & Caribbean) for Langham Preaching. Mark is married to Rachel and they have two children in their 20s. Before his current role, Mark served at All Souls, Langham Place in London (for nearly 10 years), at an Ugandan seminary (for four years) and churches in Oxford, London, and Sheffield
Rev Jon Carter, Vicar of Christ Church Lowestoft and a chair of the conference’s organising committee said, “Christ Church is excited to be hosting Lowestoft Living Word again this year. I'm personally looking forward to seeing how lessons from the book of Hosea are relevant for the church in our generation”
Mark Meynell said, “It’s really good to be looking at Hosea at this year’s conference. Hosea is a book I have come to love deeply over the last few years. It’s a deeply emotional and visceral book. It’s one of the minor prophets in the Old Testament but, despite its antiquity, despite dealing with some things that feel very alien to us today, actually it’s profoundly important and relevant
“It’s a book that really tackles what it means for us to know God and, more importantly, what it means for God to know us and to be committed us, even at the points where we fail to be committed. I hope we will do some really good business with God when we meet together”
Tom Fenning, Pastor of Beccles Baptist Church and another member of the organising committed, added, “not only will we hear God’s word taught each evening, there will also be refreshments and an excellent bookstall provided by 10ofthose.com. Come and join us!”
