Yarmouth Church announces final service
After over 30 years in its current form, Christchurch Methodist/URC in Great Yarmouth will be closing as a congregation
The church, which stands at the centre of Great Yarmouth on King Street, will be holding its final service on Saturday August 31 at 3.00pm, to celebrate the mission and worship of the congregation over 30 years. The service will be followed by refreshments. All are welcome
Rev Judith Bell, Presbyter (Probationer), who is minister for the congregation, explains: “As a local congregation we lacked enough volunteer and financial capacity to run a building of this size. We invite everyone to join us for our final formal act of worship”
The current church congregation was formed in 1989 by the union of Deneside Methodist Central Hall, Middlegate United Reformed Church and Cobholm Methodist Church
The building will continue to be a Methodist building, under the care of the Norfolk Broads Methodist Circuit, and to be used by a range of community groups
Judith continues: “We hope that Christchurch will evolve into a mission hub and community resuource for Great Yarmouth. We pray it will be a place that helps the people of Great Yarmouth discover life in all its fullness and embodies God's love. We welcome suggestions of what God might be calling this place to be next. If you are an individuals or group who would like to partner with us to make this happen we would love to speak to you"
