Jane Mill: A Personal Tsunami

PERSONAL TSUNAMI22nd September 2024

Jane, a member of All Saints Church in Belton, has had her book published by Amazon. It went on sale today. It tells of her experiences in battling leukaemia over the last ten years; still an ongoing battle

It speaks of her faith and feelings as the cancer was diagnosed and then returned and has reflections from others about how they felt and coped

Derek, her husband said "though I am her husband I can say it is a fantastic read!"

All proceeds go to the two hospitals involved in Jane's treatment; James Paget in Gorleston and Addenbrookes in Cambridge

Jane said "Following what was thought to be a routine doctors’ appointment, and being an otherwise healthy 57-year-old, there I was, only 24 hours later, being told that I had Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (sometimes referred to as AML) and was immediately taken into hospital

Is this really happening? How will we cope financially? What effect will this have on my family?

JANE MILLWill I even survive? Without any warning, life can take a completely different turn. An unseen illness causing a tsunami-like effect. What will my life look like now? How will others react? Will they be different toward me? Where is God in it all? Will my Christian faith make any difference at all?

Two transplants later, followed by a further relapse suggests this is not a book about total physical healing, but rather about how to walk faithfully and honestly with God - and others - through a long-term ‘invisible’ illness

Because what you see is not always how it is. My world is different now. And so am I

All revenue from the sale of this book will be divided equally between the two hospitals involved in my care; Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge and James Paget University Hospital, Gorleston"
