YMCA Norfolk requires volunteer chaplains

YMCA Norfolk requires volunteer chaplains
Could you provide a listening ear to young people in our community? YMCA Norfolk is looking to recruit volunteer chaplains to expand the support they give to their residents
YMCA Norfolk provides accommodation and support to young people across the county, helping vulnerable people towards independent living whilst also providing employment, training and workplace experience through our employability projects
A key area within YMCA Norfolk is Chaplaincy, and we are looking for volunteer chaplains to help expand and multiply our service by working with the Chaplain in providing spiritual and pastoral support to our Norwich-based residents
What is volunteer chaplaincy?
You will be providing a confidential, non-judgemental, listening ear to young people of all faiths and none, and you will also be supporting those wishing to develop their spiritual journey
What that looks like will be shaped by your strengths and interests. This could include having one-to-one pastoral meetings and conversations with residents to provide wellbeing support, or directing them to counselling, their engagement worker and external organisations for additional support
It could also include facilitating group activities such as board games, arts & craft or faith-based sessions. This creates a welcoming environment for young people and provides opportunities for them to seek wellbeing and pastoral support
Chaplaincy is a vital part of YMCA Norfolk’s mission to enable people to develop their full potential in mind, body, and spirit, as part of our distinctive Christian ethos
If you’re a servant-hearted individual, committed to your Christian faith, and passionate about creating environments where young people can truly belong, contribute, and thrive, then YMCA Norfolk would love to hear from you
We are currently seeking Norwich-based volunteers, ideally offering at least 2 hours per week
