New Yarmouth Church in the Community guide

New Yarmouth church in the community guide
An updated directory has been published by Imagine Norfolk Together, listing the activities run by churches in the borough of Great Yarmouth for the benefit of the community
The Church in the Community directory has been published for the first time since the Covid-19 epidemic, and lists over 50 activities run by 20 churches or different denominations and church-linked organisations
The guide was put together by Anna Heydon, development worker for Imagine Norfolk Together, and is intended to share information about activities and support available in the churches, and how it can be accessed. It includes a wide range of activities which are focussed on welcoming and supporting the wider community, from food banks to coffee mornings to youth clubs
The directory is available online here: https://imaginenorfolktogether.org.uk/resources/directory-gy where it will be kept updated as information changes. Hard copies can also be requested without charge from Anna, and will also be available from local churches, libraries and other organisations in the borough
Anna explains: "There is so much incredible work being led by churches in the Great Yarmouth borough, as they reach out with friendship, crisis support, safe spaces for children and so much more, showing the heart of God for our communities. I believe it's important that this information is available on so that as many people as possible can benefit
"I think the number and variety of ways in which the churches in Great Yarmouth are reaching out to their communities is a powerful testimony to our desire as Christians, following the example of Jesus, to see people and neighbourhoods flourish physically, emotionally and spiritually"
Imagine Norfolk Together is a charity which was originally started in 2016 by the Diocese of Norwich and the Church Urban Fund to support the work of churches in the community. The charity employs development workers in Great Yarmouth and King's Lynn
The directory consists of 5 sections: Crisis support and essentials provision, Skills and interests, Friendship and social, Children Youth and Families and Mental health and wellbeing
