Hear Christian author at Dereham ladies’ breakfast
Author Ruth Leigh with be the guest speaker at a ladies’ breakfast at Dereham Baptist Church next month and tickets are now available
Ruth, pictured above, is a novelist and freelance writer living in Suffolk with her husband, three children and a cat! Her acclaimed series of books featuring Isabella Smugge are ‘laugh out loud’ and gently evangelistic. The books are highly readable, accessible for all readers, and great to gently encourage people to find out more about Jesus
Ruth has called her talk “Sparks into Flame”, and describes her title character:
"Meet Isabella Smugge – as in ‘Br-uge-s’, naturally! Instagram influencer, consummate show-off and endearingly self-unaware. With a palatial home, charming husband and three well-mannered children, she is living the Country Life dream. Newly arrived in the country, Isabella is ready to bring a dash of London glamour to the school gate and gain a whole new set of followers – though getting past the instant coffee, terrible hair and own-brand sausage rolls may be a challenge! But as her Latvian au pair’s behaviour becomes increasingly bizarre and a national gossip columnist nurses a grudge, Isabella finds herself in need of true friends and begins to wonder if her life really is as picture-perfect as she thought…"
The event is hosted by Green Pastures Christian Bookshop, and will include a continental breakfast, with croissants, pastries, fruit, etc as well as coffee and tea. A bookstall will be available to purchase Ruth's titles as well as other products from the Green Pastures shop.
Shop managers Iraina and Helen said “Ruth is a fascinating character so expect this to be a pleasurable as well as a meaningful Ladies’ Breakfast, ideal for those wanting to feel inspired about their faith. She inspires and delights everyone she meets, so expect an entertaining morning”
The breakfast will be held at Dereham Baptist Church, High Street, Dereham NR19 1DZ , at 9.30am on Saturday 12 April. Admission to the event is £15 per ticket, which includes breakfast. Limited spaces are available

Green Pastures at 20 Norwich Street, Dereham NR19 1BX is believed to be the only town-centre Christian bookshop left in Norfolk and Suffolk. Their ministry extends beyond the selling of Christian books, Bibles, cards and gifts, as they seek to be a Christian witness on the High Street. They also hold Pop-up Shops each month at churches in Bury St Edmunds, King's Lynn and Norwich
