Rev Rosie Bunn retired on Easter Sunday

Rosie TimDerek Mill reports

Rosie Bunn retired as Rector of Belton and Burgh Castle on Easter Sunday, 20th April

Over fourteen years she has proved to be gifted and generous. Since her arrival she has worked tirelessly to build relationships with the village through her contacts with various groups, her contributions to Village Voice and her weekly visits to Moorlands Primary School

Always welcoming, she has led different styles of worship for different people and different occasions; traditional services for Burgh Castle and Holy Communion at Young at Heart and a more modern form of worship for Belton

She has demonstrated her concern for the welfare of both congregations, and for those at weddings, funerals and baptisms

Rosie has involved herself across the full age range of the church, the younger members at Refill for mum's and pre-school, Rock Solid for primary school and Messy Muddy Church

She has opened her home to some of these groups as well for numerous special events; V.E Day and the Queen's Jubilee are examples, as well as regular meetings and Life Group

Rosie has been faithful in prayer, 4 mornings a week online and monthly in the evening. She organised online worship during COVID as well as daily online meetings for social and spiritual support

Rosie has encouraged many people to explore the gifts of the Spirit that God has given in teaching, arts and music, as well as leading members to take further training to become licensed ministers

She has given wonderful support in difficult circumstances; celebrating with people in good times and grieving with them in times of sorrow and distress. She is always keen to listen and offer solace and wisdom, particularly during trying times

Her New Wine involvement has enabled her to bring in a number of outside speakers

There have been Carols in the pubs at Christmas, as well Crib services in Belton, Midnight Mass at Burgh Castle and Remembrance at both. She has also introduced a service of remembrance for the departed; a great comfort to many

For me personally she has allowed, enabled and encouraged me to preach, lead prayer and worship, to be vice chairman and secretary of PCC, church warden, deanery synod rep, and school governor

A great deal of what I have said equally applies to Tim, Rosie's husband, who has been regularly at her side and involved in much of what she has done. I am sure we all wish both Rosie and Tim a long and happy retirement. May you hear the Lord Jesus say, "Well done, good and faithful servant". You will be greatly missed by so many people, if I may use one of Rosie's own phrases, "... too numerous to mention"
