Something special is happening in South Norfolk this May, and you’re invited to be part of it. Churches Together in Norfolk and Waveney are proud to launch a brand-new initiative – an annual ecumenical talk aimed at bringing Christians across the region together for inspiration, conversation, and action

The inaugural event will take place on Thursday, May 22 at Diss Methodist Church, located on Victoria Road (opposite Hughes), IP22 4EY. Doors open at 6.30pm with a warm welcome and refreshments, ready for a 7.00pm start.  This isn’t just another church meeting – it’s the beginning of something bigger. The evening will focus on the vital theme of ecumenical mission

Rev Ben Aldous, Churches Together in England’s Principal Officer for Mission and Evangelism, will explore the power of Christian unity in action. Other speakers will include the Methodist church leader Rev David Ely who will talk about the local context and work underway to foster Christian unity.  The County Ecumenical Officer, Dr Ian Watson, will give an insight from Churches Together in Norfolk and Waveney into why ecumenism is so important in today’s modern secular society.  Along with the keynote address on mission and unity, it promises to be an uplifting and thought-provoking evening

He particularly enjoys seeing and encouraging missional ecumenism at local and countylevels. Ben also writes and reflects on mission, ecumenism, church planting and intercultural theology and is a honorary research fellow at The Queens Foundation in Birmingham. He is author of The God Who Walks Slowly: Reflections on mission with Kosuke Koyama (SCM Press 2022) and the forthcoming Lived Mission in 21st Century Britain: Ecumenical and Postcolonial Perspectives (SCM Press 2024)
