Volunteer pastors needed for Latitude Festival

Town Pastors, which operates in towns across Suffolk and Norfolk, is looking for volunteer Festival Pastors to help at the annual Latitude music festival in Suffolk at the end of July.

You may already be aware of Town Pastors who operate in towns across Suffolk and Norfolk, but have you heard of Festival Pastors?

Since 2011, a team of Town Pastors have exchanged their bright yellow jackets for striking pink hi-viz vest to volunteer at Latitude as Festival Pastors. The ministry is growing – 2024 was the busiest year so far! For 2025 the team is therefore looking to expand by having more Christian volunteers to support the day patrols.

What would you be doing?  As a volunteer you would be paired with a fully trained and experienced Town Pastor, patrolling the site from 9am – 6pm daily. Patrols work in mixed sex pairs for no more than 3 hours at a time. You would be helping to provide a positive, reassuring presence, being available to engage with people, listen, chat and offer support and help where you are needed and give out the Town Pastors’ renowned Freddos and Love Hearts. You may also get to spend time in the prayer marquee with the support team.

In the prayer space, as well as offering a safe place for visitors, Chaplaincy Lowestoft will be supporting with activities in the front of house. They will have a menu for visitors to choose from, including prayer, glitter blessings, face painting, hand massages and will also have some live art creation. Festival Pastors are excited they will be joining again for 2025.

Latitude runs from Thursday 24 to Sunday 27 July 2025. Festival Pastors would love volunteers to join the team for some, or indeed all, of the festival if available to do so. It is an excellent opportunity to serve and meet up with other Christians across East Anglia (and further afield) and even see some of the acts performing! Camping onsite is available from Wednesday 23 to Monday 28 July, and you can attend (for free) any of the Latitude performances or activities outside volunteering hours. Optional daily meal tickets will be available to cover two meals per day.

Rev Peter Livey, Communications Director with Festival Pastors, explains, “There is always a great atmosphere, the team enjoy fellowship and fun, and together make a real difference by being there and are really appreciated by Latitude organisers, Festival Republic.”

How can you volunteer?  If you would like to be a part of Festival Pastors and are over 18, a regular church-goer with an appropriate referee and willing and able to cover lots of ground on patrol, please do get in touch with Neil Winton in the first instance to register your interest at coordinator@festivalpastors.org.uk You would need to be willing to have a DBS check, and be able to attend the training day in Suffolk on Saturday July 5, 2025.

Latitude headliners this year include Sting, Kaiser Chiefs, Snow Patrol, Basement Jaxx, and many others, so a busy year in store with around 40k attendees expected. Artists and performers attending this year can be found at  www.latitudefestival.com
