Catholic family's Norfolk hike of hope for charity
A family charity Hike of Hope from the Cathedral of St John the Baptist in Norwich to the Shrine of Our Lady in Walsingham is set to take place in late September, to help displaced children affected by war, violence and natural calamities
Organiser Aloma Do Rozario, said: “Our team is made up of three siblings and our families, 13 of us in total. The youngest member is just 4 years old, and the eldest are in their late 40s. Since learning more about Aid to the Church in Need’s (CAN) work and the challenges faced by Christians in places like the Holy Land, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Ukraine, we’ve felt called to do more — to help ACN support the faith of our persecuted brothers and sisters”
The families, from Norwich, Beccles and Bristol, aim to complete the 38-mile journey between September 19 and 21 to raise £1,500 and, says Aloma: “We also hope to inspire other families to take part in similar acts of faith and solidarity”
Last year the same family group completed an epic trek up Ben Nevis in freezing conditions
The three related families involved are: Tony, Aloma & Eizabeth - Pampackal Family - from the parish of St Benets Beccles; Moses, Meghna, Emmanuel, Ezekiel & Elijah - Do Rozario Family - from the parish in Portishead, Bristol; Joshua, Mary, Jeremiah, Judith & Marceleno - Do Rozario Family from St George RC Norwich
Jeremiah said: “We’re doing this to support ACN in its mission to help Christians around the world who are in urgent need — providing essentials and strengthening the faith we share.”
Judith added: “We want to help the Church and people in need, so they can live happier lives and in peace, without war disturbing their faith”
Elizabeth said: “We’re doing this to raise awareness, send prayers, and offer support for our fellow brothers and sisters who need help — through ACN”
