Special Altar Service for the Homeless and Needy

As many of you will be aware, here in Great Yarmouth we see a great deal of needy people week in and week out as part of our Community Drop in on a Monday, Thursday and Friday mornings

Many of those we see are homeless and sleeping rough, although not always, however, many have very few possessions

We help them as best we can by offering them practical support, i.e. shower facility,  clothes washing service, clothing where needed along with blankets and sleeping bags, and, of course, food and a hot drink... maybe even a cup or a bowl of soup and some toast. And of course we offer them dedicated support by engaging with the many agencies that are now part of our Community Drop In

But we do need help. There are practical things that we need; such as:

Soap
Shower Gel
Shampoo
Toothbrushes
Toothpaste
Shaving Foam
Razors
Flannels
Deodorant

If you would like to make a small donation towards our Social Care and Community Programme, we would love it if you could donate any of the items listed above or any toiletry items in general in a special Altar Service that we are planning to hold on Sunday 7th February. This is a chance for everyone to play a small part in changing the lives of people who are less fortunate than they are

You can either bring your donated goods to our Citadel on a Monday, Thursday and Friday between the hours of 09.30-11.30 during our Community Drop In, or call into our Charity Shop at 167 King Street, Great Yarmouth, NR30 2PA anytime during the hours of 09.00 - 16.00 (Monday to Saturday)

Can I leave you with these words from Matthew's Gospel, chapter 25.34 "Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me’ “

Hope you can help
