Help the homeless this Lent says YMCA Norfolk
YMCA Norfolk is appealing to people across Norfolk to make a real difference by “giving out as well as giving up” for Lent this year
The Christian charity is asking people to consider supporting local homeless young people for the 40 days of Lent, starting on March 5, through prayer, sacrifice and giving to those in need
Communications and Fundraising Manager, Susie Knights, explained: “Supporting our annual Lent appeal is a practical way to link prayer, sacrifice and giving to those in need. Take the money you would have spent on those items you have committed to give up during Lent and give it away instead. Take the time you’ve committed to Lent and instead spend that time in prayer. You can help change the lives of disadvantaged young people who are forced to give up many of the things we take for granted, including a home
“Your financial and prayer support can help provide a safe home and support for young people and provide opportunities to develop their life skills and pathways into education, employment and training to equip them ready for independent living. You can join us in making a difference in young people’s lives and provide them with opportunities to reach their full potential,” said Susie
How do I raise money?

Collect the money saved on your Lent items and donate it to YMCA Norfolk
-
Get your friends and family to sponsor you for giving up the things you love or the bad habits you have and donate to YMCA Norfolk
-
Use up all those ingredients people typically give up for lent and have a Lent themed cake sale or a pancake brunch on March 4 so that people can stock up before their 40 days of sacrifice
What should I pray for?
-
The vulnerable young people we support and their futures
-
Our wonderful volunteers who open up their homes and hearts to support young people
