2020 Vision of the Good Society
Churches Together in Britain and Ireland, in collaboration with a number of ecumenical partners, has produced a ‘2020 Vision of the Good Society.’ This discussion document sets out a positive vision for the kind of ‘Good Society’ we would like to see in 2020 – the end of the next Parliament – rooted in Christian values and theology. This document is specifically designed for use in Hustings events and includes suggested questions to use as discussion starters with candidates in relation to five key ‘Good Society’ themes
Show Up
The Show Up campaign aims to encourage positive Christian engagement in the run up to, and beyond, the 2015 General Election. Organised by Christians in Politics, the website includes a range of videos, resources and information on the main political parties and their Christian affiliate organisations, and how Christians can get involved
Engage15
Christian charity CARE‘s website Engage15 aims to promote active engagement in the General Election. It provides information for Christians to consider on a range of issues when voting. Guides include A Biblical Mandate for Political Involvement, Hustings Guide, Questions for Candidates, a Chairperson’s Guide and a Daily Prayer Guide Booklet
CAFOD / CSAN
This election briefing from CAFOD and Caritas Social Action Network (CSAN) is inspired by Catholic Social Teaching and offers four questions to ask parliamentary candidates ahead of the general election on tackling poverty at home and abroad
Evangelical Alliance
The Evangelical Alliance’s election website supports the Show Up campaign with a video introduction from EA’s Director, Steve Clifford, Show Up resources to download, plus EA’s own guide to organising a Hustings
Quakers in Britain
A new briefing on economic inequality in Britain (PDF) from Quaker Peace & Social Witness focusses on how changes to public policy could address inequality, and includes research from Church Action on Poverty
Christian Aid
Christian Aid has set out how it would like to influence the general election manifestos of all the UK political parties in its document Contract With the World’s Poor (PDF). It sets out how it would like a future government to address tax dodging, climate change and reform of the world’s emergency aid systems
Faith in Politics
The Joint Public Issues group have produced Faith in Politics, a briefing on 16 key issues.
