The Seventh Day Adventist Church in Burnt Lane has been operating the service at least twice a year since 2010
The programme is carried out by qualified medical professionals, assisted by health promoters, all of whom volunteer their time
Many people braved the rain to visit the team on Sunday, who administered 80 blood pressure checks, 79 blood sugar tests, 81 body mass index (BMI) tests and 19 carbon monoxide tests
Blood pressure tests help to monitor heart conditions and blood sugar tests are useful means of assessing diabetes
Carbon monoxide tests can be used to assess the impact of smoking while the BMI is used to evaluate a person’s weight
The team offered advice where necessary and nine GP referrals were made
Many members of the public expressed their gratitude throughout the six-hour voluntary session
