A Brilliant Day at Charter Academy
21st March 2018
Revelation 3:7-13
Day two of our week in Great Yarmouth Charter Academy has been a brilliant day! We always know that Jesus is with us in everything we do and everywhere we are, but sometimes don't you just get those days when you see Him in EVERYTHING? (picture right supplied by Unite)
The day started off with some really challenging situations as the teams learned the new ways of delivering lessons and dealing with the pupils' exuberance at this new Academy. With one member of the team off sick yesterday and another member off sick today we were starting to feel less than enthusiastic and knew we needed something more than our strength and resources to maintain the high energy lessons the school is used to
As usual, we are always conscious of being part of a wider family and a bigger picture. As we hurriedly texted some of the supporters we knew had time today to pray for us, we soon heard from God through these wonderful messengers and just one of the passages we received was the one above which starts:
"These are the words of Him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What He opens no-one can shut and what He shuts no-one can open. I know your deeds. See I have placed before you a door that no-one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name..............." This morning, Ali's "daily text" on her Bible App was from Matthew 6 v 34: Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself...." and as she read it she knew was God saying "Remember that - you're going to need it today!"
As Ali, Aoife, Bex, Millie, and Bekky waited in the gym for the PE class to arrive they started praising and singing worship to the Father who is good in every situation and in the dinner hall Joy, Andy, Frankie, Wes, and Jay prayed as they waited for their class to arrive. It was such a privilege to be in that place lifting the name of Jesus high!
The following lesson in the gym had a few minutes at the end where the pupils were able to ask questions about any aspect of the team; one lad asked how did we all become Christians, so we were able to tell our testimonies, inviting them to follow up conversations with Ali and Lorraine in the dinner halls after the week has finished
The last lesson in the gym also gave an opportunity for the team to talk about how important it is for us to make decisions based on knowledge and not on what other people tell us; when one pupil said that he now wanted to try out some dance lessons to find out whether he wants to take up dancing, Ali was able to encourage them all to do the same with faith - that they should find out about it before they make decisions. The staff member agreed, also talking about how he met his wife at a Christian youth camp, that she's a Christian and his children go to church!
We were so encouraged as we left the school and we decided that we would spend the time at Theos (Costa) telling our testimony of prayer to the two young Christians we are nurturing there, discussing how the Bible had been so relevant to us today, as well as being part of a wider picture/family who could stand with us in prayer, They were really surprised to hear how the day had unfolded and the girl (Julia) told us how her mum had been in a worrying situation last week but Julia had gone into her bedroom and started to read the Bible (1 Samuel) and found comfort there! God is doing SUCH great stuff in the hearts of these two young people
Please continue to pray for *Kevin and *Julia - that they will have a revelation from Holy Spirit of His love for them
Thank you so much for your faithful prayers; we may say that a lot but we really do appreciate them and you; faithful brothers and sisters
"Therefore, God elevated Him to the place of highest honour and gave Him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord to the Glory of God the Father! Philippians 2 v 8-11”
